Such will be the case on the wildly successful YouTube channel First We Feast, as Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan will square off on the Hot Ones spinoff Versus. In this variation on the hit experiential interview web series, two celebrities take turns asking each other hard-hitting and deep-cutting questions. Then comes a choice: answer the question or eat a wing coated in hot sauce clocking in at over 2 million Scoville units (for reference, the average jalapeno clocks in between 2,000 and 8,000 units). Whoever eats the fewest wings wins, but given the usual reactions of the stars, the viewers are likely to be the real winners here.
Previous pairs on the series have included Rob Lowe and his son John Owen, WWE Superstars (and real-life husband and wife) Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, and brother and sister pop music team Billie Eilish and Finneas.
While the flagship Hot Ones is entering its twenty-fifth season, the Versus spin-off is a relatively new concept, though it has entered weekly rotation rather than being a buffer between regular seasons.
What will happen when two of nu metal’s finest collide with the Wings of Death? How many Dead Memories will be brought up? Will the heat drive Corey and Shawn Psychosocial? Though the sauce used is The Last Dab, will it turn into My Plague for either man? And whose sphincter will Wait and Bleed? Will the overwhelming spice cause either man to jump the fuck up? Or will they just Spit It Out?
