OG 'Tough Enough' Winner Maven Huffman Talks Life After The MTV Competition Show

And yes, the sale of his trophy is addressed.

In the summer of 2001, the WWF presented Tough Enough, a reality competition series which took aspiring wrestlers and put them through the ringer for the ultimate prize: a contract with the biggest game in town. One of its inaugural winners, Maven Huffman, would go on to win the WWF Hardcore Championship three times and be on the winning side of the 2004 classic Survivor Series match that pitted Evolution against four of RAW's top stars.

All this to say that it's not all pyro and championship gold, as in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Huffman confirmed a long-standing story regarding the trophy he received for winning the first season of Tough Enough.

In summary, Huffman had the trophy in a storage locker in Florida, but after his arrest in 2012 for alleged "doctor shopping" to fuel an addiction to oxycodone (an addiction which he has since sought treatment for), he "ate through [his] savings in about eight months." He ended up abandoning the locker due to his inability to pay for it, and so the contents were sold.

Huffman went on to recall that the person who bought the trophy attempted to sell it back to him for $600, which Huffman declined. He went on to say that he would track it down again in the name of content for his successful YouTube channel, then find a way to give the trophy to a fan, as he doesn't have kids of his own.
