Primer 55, the breakneck rap-rockers from Memphis, are ready to get loose with an October tour, after having announced their reunion at the beginning of June.
The tour, which will span across five states, commemorates 25 years of the band’s crushing and chaotic debut Introduction to Mayhem. The band’s current iteration features guitarist and co-founder Bobby Burns alongside vocalist Donny “The DRP” Polinske, bassist Joshua Toomey and drummer Preston Nash.
Burns suggested there may be new music to look forward to in the future.
“I had to absolutely destroy myself once again for this to be able to happen. Excited about tomorrow(s) and new music,” Burns stated, according to Blabbermouth.
“The time felt right to bring this music to the stage again, and to celebrate what Bobby and [co-founder and former vocalist] J-Sin created and to add a new chapter to the P55 legacy,” Nash stated.
In response to a comment on the Instagram post announcing the tour, the band replied and teased there are “more shows coming!”
“After almost losing Bobby with his health concerns, I couldn’t be happier to be announcing these shows,” Toomey stated. “This is a celebration of the debut record and selfishly will be a great excuse to get in a room again with friends. I do wish J-Sin was here to see the rise in fandom of Nu Metal again and to see the younger fans of Primer 55.”
Burns revealed in 2024 he was struggling with alcoholic liver failure, cirrhosis and acidosis, according to Theprp.
Jason “J-Sin” Luttrell can be heard as vocalist on both of Primer’s studio albums to date. He died in 2018 after battles with hepatitis C.
Polinske commented on Luttrell’s legacy with the band as well as his excitement to hit the stage.
“J-Sin is and will forever be a legend in my mind. He is the voice of PRIMER 55,” Polinske stated. “I will not be trying to take over his throne. I will be doing this because I love music and I promise you there is few (sic) people on this planet that run around a stage more than me and give it their all for the music. Energy times a million! If you don't care to see the shows, I totally respect that. But if you come out, I guarantee you it will be a great time, and I would love to have a shot of whisky (sic) and a drink with ya! RUCKUS!”
