Twitch streamer and guitar aficionado Chainbrain is known for bringing metal guitar to the masses with his streams of the music game Rocksmith. Thanks to mods and transcribers making charts for all manner of songs across all of the metal world, Chainbrain plays requests, meme songs, new music, and anything inbetween, wielding his custom seven-string Kiesel guitar and a pitch shifter to get around those pesky low tunings.
On a recent stream, he played through a song by Undisputed, a French nu-metalcore act with a meager following as of press time. After he finished playing the band’s “Gun District” from their 2018 album Hoods Up, Chainbrain noted that the band had seven monthly listeners on Spotify. As of this publication (March 23), the song has 1,200 streams on Spotify, with the band having 14 monthly listeners. Those numbers are a shame, as the drop C riffing evokes memories of bands like Hatebreed and other early 2000s metalcore acts, those who incorporated a groove and bounce to the brutality.
The band’s socials have been silent since before the pandemic, with their last Instagram post listed from January 20, 2020. It’s a damn shame, as “Gun District” is a punishing listen in the best ways.
