Red Winter is upon us, as the third installment of SKYND's peek behind the dark side of the Iron Curtain is here with "Mikhail Popkov." The industrial metal track is a pulsating one, with a chant-along of "Papa is a good man, he's a good man" that is begging to be used in concert.
On the subject, the song has a one-shot video from a concert, as opposed to a traditional music video like "Andrei Chikatilo" and "Tamara Samsonova" got. It's more aggressive and urgent than a lot of the duo's usual fare, but it works so well.
For the uninformed, Mikhail Popkov was known as the Angarsk Maniac, having been convicted of 91 murders over a 20-year span before being apprehended in 2012. He is currently serving two life sentences plus 19 years and 8 months for his heinous crimes.
As such, the Chapter VII: Red Winter EP is available for streaming and purchase now. SKYND have pulled back the curtain in full, and the result is a strong effort, if a bit short at just under 10 minutes across its three songs. Head to their website for purchase of the EP and merch.
