SKYND Pull Back The Red Curtain Further With "Tamara Samsonova"

With their musical retelling of the Granny Ripper's story, SKYND are firing on all cylinders for 'Chapter VII.'

Chapter VII of SKYND's ongoing investigation into the darker side of humanity has seen its roots planted in Russia, with the first case being that of Andrei Chikatilo. The second turns to more modern times with "Tamara Samsonova," named for the Granny Ripper herself.

In the new song, SKYND's delivery is like a diary reading, more menacing and uneasy than usual, and that's saying something. The verses lean into coldwave and industrial with a pulsating kick, with the chorus bringing in drums and belts. There's a lot packed into not even two and a half minutes, and it may be their most nu-sounding track since "Armin Meiwes," maybe even "Gary Heidnik."

Check it out for yourself below with the visualizer / lyric video:

On Friday, SKYND herself talked with Florence McLean, a criminal profiler and psychologist whose work includes examinations into over 100 cases of serial killers and their crimes. She's been featured on several documentaries the world over, namely Women Who Kill and Are They Too Dangerous For Freedom, the latter of which McLean hosted.
