Slipknot's 'Look Outside Your Window' Will Finally Be Released

Much has been speculated about the long-rumored lost Slipknot album Look Outside Your Window. Recorded during the All Hope is Gone sessions in 2008, the album has, by frontman Corey Taylor’s own admission, more of a “Radiohead vibe, to be honest,” which would be expected from Taylor’s other band Stone Sour, but would be off-brand for the masked metallers, to say the least. It’s become something of a joke among the maggots, but as of late, members of the band have tipped their hands and suggested that the record may finally see the light of day.

Guitarist Jim Root has joked several times that, in so many words, he is a guitar string away from leaking the album himself, but those plans may have had pain put to them courtesy of percussionist/producer Shawn “Clown” Crahan, who confirmed recently that Look Outside Your Window is completed, the artwork has been finalized, and the record has been turned over to the band’s management.

In an interview with NME for Slipknot’s 25th anniversary, Clown had this to say:

“I did say it was going to be in 2024, and I gave it the best fight that I could to make it this year. What I can tell you is that I showed Corey the final artwork two days ago. It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I can’t slide it in this year. But you have my word, it’s out of my hands now. It’s being moved on, the money has been spent and there is a plan. The management has it and it is coming out.

“I’m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! What’s nice though is that it isn’t a hype thing, it’s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn’t Slipknot, but utilised the skills of guys with no rules. I don’t know if it’s ‘good’, but I know that I love it. I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too.”

The band’s last studio release was 2022’s The End, So Far, which was the first to feature percussionist Michael Pfaff (known colloquially as “Tortilla Man”). It topped the Billboard Top Alternative, Top Rock, and Top Hard Rock Albums charts, and reached #1 the charts in six other countries as well. Slipknot is currently touring the UK in celebration of their 25th anniversary.
