Softcult Drop Powerful New Single “She Said, He Said”

The poignant new song calls out victim-blaming and sweeping abuse under the rug.

Amid the upcoming release of their debut album When a Flower Doesn’t Grow early next year, Ontario’s own Softcult releases a new track off the album titled "She Said, He Said," with an accompanying music video that filmed, edited and produced by the band themselves.

Aside from being another Softcult classic, the single also shines a light on the ongoing battle against sexual assault and showing support for victim’s advocacy, with the band sharing a statement via Instagram of the songs back story:

“She Said, He Said is a song about believing survivors of assault. Cases of SA are historically under-reported, and many victims don’t come forward for fear of being accused of lying. When survivors do come forward, we are all too often blamed for encouraging the situation that led to the assault in the first place. Myths and bogus claims that aim to dismiss allegations of assault perpetuate harmful misinformation and suspicion of SA survivors when we decide to share traumatic stories. This problematic culture of misogynistic skepticism is a major contributing factor to the silencing of survivors, enabling predators to continue with their mistreatment and escape accountability. This song attempts to raise awareness by telling a story that, unfortunately, for many, is all too familiar: the “nice guy” that coerces and pressures his victim instead of asking for consent.”

I had the pleasure of seeing the band live in Dallas during their fall U.S. tour.

The band concluded their fall U.S tour this past month with support from Wayside and will embark on a EU/UK tour with Glayhaze and She’s Green as supporting acts starting November 17th in Berlin.

When A Flower Doesn't Grow releases on January 30th, 2026 via Easy Life Records.
