After several years of relative silence, Sylar are officially back with a new video for “Pushing Me Off". The band’s latest release was produced by Andrew Baylis and Richard Wicander, blending the raw intensity that first put Sylar on the map professionally with To Whom It May Concern in 2014 and the more developed approach showcased on Seasons. The result points to a band reconnecting with its roots while pushing forward into a new chapter.
Following the release of Seasons in 2018, Sylar entered a prolonged hiatus. In 2021, vocalist Jayden Panesso hinted via Twitter that the band had begun working on new material. During that period, guitarist and clean vocalist Miguel Cardona remained active through his side project Rust, which explored a sound closely aligned with Sylar’s core style.
Notably, the video for “Pushing Me Off” was released directly through the band’s official YouTube channel rather than via Hopeless Records or Sylar’s dedicated channel. The move suggests a more independent approach, potentially indicating that any forthcoming releases are being handled under the same model.
The video premiered globally on Wednesday evening, with the single becoming available on all streaming platforms at 12am EST on Thursday, January 15. You can watch the video below.
