The Browning Give A Nu-Deathcore Makeover To Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"

The Browning are riding high after the November release of their sixth studio effort OMNI. Anchored by the singles “Poison,” “HIVEMIND,” and “Deceivier,” and collaboration with YouTube sensation Nik Nocturnal and THE DEFECT, the album garnered millions of streams on various platforms and served as a fine debut for the band on their new label, FiXT.

In an effort to strike while the iron is hot, as well as pay tribute to a classic song with a twist, the band released their version of Eiffel 65’s megahit “Blue (Da Ba Dee),” complete with cover art that looks like a color swap of Charli XCX’s brat as viewed by your grandmother’s old magnifying glass. Musically speaking, icepick synths punctuate the melody, with the drumming switching between a more faithful-to-the-original Eurodisco beat and your typical double-kick drumming fare. Vocalist/programmer Jonny McBee’s voice ping-pongs between a robotic monotone and mid-screams, with a “BLEGH” thrown in for good measure.

If people look at bands like Amon Amarth getting their crowds to sit on the ground and row invisible boats as weird, imagine how those same folks would react to dudes moshing to a one-hit wonder Italo disco song from the last millennium.
