Epic Games’ free-to-play variety show that is Fortnite is celebrating its origins with the Fortnite OG campaign in its core battle royale modes, but that doesn’t mean that they’re the only ones with a fondness for the past. The rhythm-based “Festival” mode, which is more or less Guitar Hero or Rock Band with extra steps and also Billy the Puppet from SAW for some reason(?!), is adding new tracks this week, including three from one of rock’s finest acts.
Linkin Park’s hit singles “Faint” and “The Emptiness Machine” are being added to the charts for the game mode, as well as the to-be-released “Up from the Bottom,” the band’s first song since last year’s comeback record From Zero. The songs will be added to the game this Thursday, March 27, which also coincides with the release of the aforementioned new cut. The cover art for said single is similar to what we saw on From Zero, though it is unclear at this time whether this is a B-side from the record, or something entirely new.
The first glimpse of the song came last week with a teaser clip posted by the band. What can be heard of the instrumental sounds akin to “Given Up” in its upbeat pace, and the outro of the teaser features co-vocalist Mike Shinoda rapping the line “everybody out, cuz the devil is coming,” so this new offering may be closer aligned with classic Linkin Park.
Until then, fans can play through the band’s classics “In the End” and “Numb,” which are currently featured among the mode’s broad setlist.
