'Twisted Metal' Season Two Crashes Onto Peacock Later This Month

The first three episodes drop on July 31st, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly.

While there hasn't been a new game in the franchise since 2012, Twisted Metal is an iconic video game franchise, finally getting a television series treatment. AEW wrestler and current Trios Champion Samoa Joe plays the series mascot Sweet Tooth (though the voice comes from Will Arnett), while modern-day Captain America actor Anthony Mackie plays John Doe, driver of Roadkill and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) portrays the enigmatic Quiet. The series earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination For Comedy Programming, and given the sheer level of carnage Twisted Metal is known for, that's the least it could win.

Season two is coming to Peacock on Thursday, July 31st, with the first three episodes dropping at the wave of the proverbial green flag. Subsequent Thursdays will see episodes dropping through August 28th, as reported by SlashFilm's BJ Colangelo. While season one was more of a road tale, season two promises the tournaments as seen in the game, meaning for all intents and purposes, the shit is about to hit the fan, with Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho in James Gunn's Superman) playing the mysterious Calypso.

Soundtracked by a cinematic take on "Move Bitch" by Ludacris, the trailer sees the car combat calamity which is central to the IP. With machine guns, missiles, and ice cream trucks galore, the action factor, which was already rather high in the first season of the show, is only ramping up from here.

Check out the trailer below for season two of Twisted Metal, premiering on Peacock on July 31st:
