Bambie Thug combines pop and electronic music with elements of industrial metal and witchcraft to create their own unique mixture. The proportion of these ingredients may vary from song to song. For example, “Doomsday Blue”, the track they sang representing Ireland at last year's Eurovision Song Contest saved up the heaviness for a closing breakdown. On the other hand, their latest track “Redrum” goes all in with a heavy overdriven guitar riff and distorted vocals that drive the pace of the song.
The lyrics are directly criticizing the wars going on in our world right now and the oppression going on against the queer collective while propaganda in the form of distraction and doomscrolling allow people to remind quiet against the injustice going on in the world: “Pride is a protest / Rise of the oppressed / Pick a side, are you peaceful or possessed?”
Redrum is a song that some were able to hear before it was released on streaming platforms, as Bambie Thug was playing it live on BABYMETAL’s UK and Europe arena tour earlier this year, a tour that also featured Bambie Thug and Poppy as special guests.
