Butcher Babies Say It With Their Chest On New Single "Black Dove"

The band, led by LA metalcore baddie Heidi Shepherd, are back with another emotionally-fraught rager.

Butcher Babies are at it again. The band, led by L.A. metalcore baddie Heidi Shepherd, just dropped the music video for their new single "Black Dove." Following "Lost In Your Touch" and just weeks after the debut of "Cannibal," their collab with Stitched Up Heart, the band is back with another emotionally fraught rager.

This time around, Shepherd, who co-wrote the track with guitarist Henry Flury, digs into the painful lessons she's carried since childhood. Now, it seems she's finally reached a place where she can embrace who she really is. What others think of her no longer matters: "Call me / Call me sick / Call me poison / Take your pick."

You said I’d break / But I’m still here / Built from screams / And bastard fears

Plus, there's a bit about choking on guilt—and piss. Clearly, the mind that rhymed "cannibal" and "fentanyl" is hard at work keeping things real and in-your-face. The band's as-yet-untitled new album, the follow-up to 2023's Eye for an Eye... / ...'Til the World's Blind, is set to release sometime this year. The album marks their first foray with Judge & Jury Records, the label founded by Grammy-winning multi-platinum producer Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, Hoobastank, P.O.D.) and Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson.

Fans can catch Butcher Babies right now on tour. The current slate includes solo shows, festival stops, and co-headliners with Moldovan metalcore sensation Infected Rain. Butcher Babies even recently added three shows in Japan including a performance at this year's edition of Deviloof's annual Devifest.
