Staind's Break the Cycle jumped to the top of my Apple Music library recently, I guess they remixed it for surround sound? I threw it on yesterday, most if it sounds similar, if a bit 'off,' with one glaring exception which is that the backing vocals on "Pressure" are now twice as loud as the leads. One of you is going to have to go check for yourselves and let me know but it isn't subtle. I don't know how this skated past QC. Aaron Lewis just woke up one morning and said "You know what, today I think I'll ruin the second song on our biggest album." And ruin it he did.
Speaking of ruining things, Aaron Lewis prepares to further desecrate that memory you have of crying silently in the backseat of your mom's minivan to "Outside" after the two of you had a bad argument at church with the release of "Give My Country Back," out this Friday via Big Machine reports Blabbermouth.
You don't remember it but Lewis' 2021 single "Am I the Only One," which grevencied its way into the top 40 of the Hot 100 before vanishing, features this all timer lyric: "Am I the only one willing to bleed? / Or take a bullet for being free? / Screaming, 'What the fuck' at my TV?" As far as I'm aware Aaron Lewis has exactly zero days of active duty military service under his belt which has to make this song some kinda stolen valour. Have you ever gotten so screaming mad at the TV that you were ready to get shot dead in defense of being free to get screaming mad at the TV? Can't say I have. He should go prove it. Maybe the next time he slaughters 32 coyotes in order to create viral content for the wraparound sunglasses drivers seat selfie people on Facebook. Were those coyotes taking a bullet for being free, Aaron? Are you sure you would too?
Anyway, can't wait to find out what it is, exactly, Aaron Lewis feels like he needs to take his country back from. Hey man, you won. Trump is the president and Republicans control the House and Senate. Are you still not happy? Gosh, I wonder why. Let's all hope this song is just what he needs to cheer himself up at last. I don't know if he's still not ashamed to be the person that he is today, but I sure would be.
