At the tail end of last year, Slipknot announced its collaboration with upcoming horror FPS game The Bornless with a trailer interspersed with references to and lyrics from the band's extensive catalog. After half a year of speculation and hype, the demo for said game has dropped now, as part of Steam's Next Fest promotion.
The Bornless is an extraction PvPvE game where players will work against enemies both human-controlled and computer-controlled to collect resources, complete the rituals, and get the hell out of Dodge. At a glance, it is reminiscent of the gritty Hunt: Showdown with a greater emphasis on the uncanny valley brand of baddies as opposed to the BBEG-style creatures in Hunt.
The game also promises a great deal of development and growth in its run, with players having the ability to build their cabins from small shitshacks to brick shithouses over the course of many runs. And with endorsement and collaboration from one of the most recognizable metal bands of all time, Cathedral Studios just might have a hit on their hands.
