With the sound of the heartbeat of his to-be-born son Zyon, Max Cavalera and Sepultura launched a revolution in heavy metal, as their fifth studio album Chaos A.D. helped to solidify a groove to their established thrash metal sound. It is a cornerstone of the groove metal movement that was brought on by bands like Pantera before them, as well as Machine Head shortly after them, while doubling down on their sociopolitical themes.
It is a shame that three decades later, songs like "Refuse/Resist" and "Territory" are still incredibly relevant, but in times like these, anthems like those go harder than ever. Thus, the timing of Cavalera - the new band by Max and Igor Cavalera - announcing their tour in support of the album's 30th anniversary is impeccable.
Beginning at the Louder Than Life Festival on September 18th, the tour will span the United States for one month, stopping at a handful of other festivals, as well as the lone Slayer reunion show in Hershey, PA on September 20th.
