coldrain Call Upon The Used's Bert McCracken For "POISON"

The Japanese outfit's new album 'OPTIMIZE = OPTDEMISE' releases September 25th.

We are just weeks away from the release of OPTIMIZE = OPTDEMISE, the extension of coldrain's 2025 EP OPTIMIZE. Following on from the first single of the new cycle "EX-HUMANITY," the Japanese quintet have released "POISON," featuring The Used frontman Bert McCracken. The track is a more straightforward hard rock affair with a bit of pop-punk flair, oweing to the presence of the iconic post-hardcore singer McCracken.

On how the track came together, vocalist Masato offers:

POISON is a song about love and desire, about how something, or someone, you love can become so addictive that it’s easy to lose yourself in it. Trying to find the right dosage of that love, enough to satisfy you without letting it consume you, feels like one of the most human struggles there is.
The song also features killer vocals from the one and only Bert McCracken of The Used, one of our all-time favourite singers. His signature voice brings a rawness and emotional intensity to the track that makes POISON feel like a timeless emo masterpiece.”
