Dead Animal Assembly Plant Unleash Cover Of RATM's "Sleep Now In The Fire"

The industrial metallers add some bite to the Rage Against The Machine classic.

Over a quarter century since the original song's release as a single, industrial metal madmen Dead Animal Assembly have released a cover of Rage Against The Machine's "Sleep Now In The Fire." Though the original comes from RATM's 1999 album The Battle of Los Angeles, it would not be released as a single until the following April, but the bass groove-heavy track is a banger on an album chock-full of them.

DAAP's version loses the funkier moments in favor of aggression and pounding percussion, with the raps being growled and screamed. It is a more mechanical delivery, with the opening sample as a chant of "pigs go home," a haunting reminder of the current state of affairs with ICE raids and an increased police presence in major cities.

File this one under "songs we wish weren't as relevant as they were at the time they were released," but unfortunate reality being what it is, the Portland-based outfit deliver one hell of a cover.
