It has been a heavy week for the heavy music world, with the loss of Ozzy Osbourne on Tuesday. Surprisingly, though, the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart has a new song at its peak, and it's not by Ozzy or Black Sabbath. Deftones' new song "my mind is a mountain" has topped the chart for the week ending July 26th, 2025.
While those of us at the Agenda had mixed reactions to the new song, it is the first single from the band's next studio album private music., due out on August 22nd. We don't know if there will be another single released between now and then, or if that song will eventually chart like this one did, but odds are next week's chart will be topped by something Ozzy or Sabbath, and why wouldn't it?
