Evanescence Release Music Video For 'Devil May Cry' Soundtrack Feature "Afterlife"

ICYMI: The song is Evanescence's first new music in five years.

The Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry has been filled with early 2000s nostalgia, right down to the soundtrack, which features Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and Evanescence. The latter of those released a brand-new song for the occasion, as “Afterlife” was unveiled just before the series’ debut. While the song has gotten a lyric video treatment which harkens back to the days of AMVs, there is now a proper music video for the song.

While the video takes place in reality, there are clips from the show projected onto a hanging white sheet with an old film projector, another nod to the past in this highly nostalgic premise. The lighting goes from stark white to red as Dante's coat with white spotlights, keeping with the Gothic color palette of the franchise as a whole. In all, director Jason Lester made this an Evanescence video as much as he made an advertisement for the show, and that is exactly what this clip should be.

Devil May Cry is streaming on Netflix.
