Our nu world was rocked this past Saturday evening, as news broke that Sam Rivers, the co-founder and bassist for Limp Bizkit, died at the age of just 48 years old. While the spotlight has historically been on his bandmates for various reasons, Rivers' in-the-pocket playing was a backbone of the band's catalog, as alluded to by frontman Fred Durst in his emotional tribute video. DJ Lethal also posted a tribute photo of Rivers using #FuckCancer.

Other members of the nu metal sphere have paid tribute throughout the last several days, and here is a collection of some of those.

The Callous Daoboys kept things short and sweet with their tribute, giving the nod to Rivers' influence on their own music:

"No daoboys without @limpbizkit. RIP Sam Rivers. sending all the love we can."

In This Moment bassist Travis Johnson wrote about Rivers' stage presence and musicianship:

"Anyone who knows me knows that I fucking love Limp Bizkit, particularly Sam Rivers with his fierce stage presence and fat ass memorable basslines. This one fucking hurts. Embrace life and take chances. It could all end in any moment… so reach for the stars friends."
