In the Attitude Era of pro wrestling, one of the most colorful characters was that of The Godfather, the styling pimp portrayed by Charles Wright, who also worked as Kama Mustafa and Papa Shango in what was then the World Wrestling Federation. While a gentle giant of a man, the former Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion had a bit more bravado in his heyday, and that led him to an unexpected beef with the brains behind Body Count, as Wright revealed on his Poddin' Ain't Easy podcast.

On a recent AMA-style episode of the show, co-host Casio asked The Godfather about his entrance at WrestleMania 2000, in which he and D'Lo Brown were played down to the ring by Ice-T. The hip-hop-oriented WWF Aggression album had just dropped, and like many of his contemporaries, The Godfather got a new theme as a result. Godfather would reveal that this was something of a rib (a practical joke, in old wrestling lexicon) by then-WWF Chairman Vince McMahon, who knew of a prior run-in Wright had with Ice-T some years ago.

As Godfather tells it, after taking a long toke:

"Back in the day, we're in a club. This is a long time ago, this is the 90s. We're at a club called Utopia in Vegas. I had just became The Godfather, and someone was like 'Hey man, someone wants you to come over to Ice-T's table' and shit... I was like 'You told me to come over here?' and he was like 'I didn't tell you to come over here. And it got ugly from there.

Vince, being the dickhead that he is, I told him the whole story about it, the whole fuckin' story about it. Years later, I go to Vince and they're doing an album... Snoop Dogg goes 'Hey man, I got this new cat, Xzibit, you gotta talk to Vince and him to do your theme song.' And Vince goes 'Hold on a minute, Charles, we have the perfect guy for ya! We're gonna have Ice-T! And he's gonna walk out at WrestleMania with ya!' And I was like 'you motherfucker...'"

He goes on to say that Ice-T didn't know about the incident, but Godfather also talks about how his wife talked him out of introducing Ice-T as Ice Cube during said WrestleMania entrance as payback for the prior run-in, but he was glad that he opted not to after his wife's cooler head prevailed.
