Mephisto Odyssey Drops Crucified Dub Mix Of Static-X's "Push It" To Commemorate RIAA Gold Certification

The longtime Wayne Static collaborator marks the momentous occasion by unearthing a long-lost mix.

On April 21st, 2026, Static-X's debut single "Push It" went Gold, amassing half a million units or equivalent sold. The accolade comes over a quarter of a century from its initial debut and subsequent leading of the band's first LP Wisconsin Death Trip, which has since seen a Corrosive Edition released to celebrate 25 years of evil disco.

Mikael Johnston, frontman of Mephisto Odyssey and one-time collaborator with the band's namesake Wayne Static, has dropped a new mix of the song, the Crucified Dub Mix. This version was originally released on the maxi-single for "Push It" back in 1999, and has gotten a facelift by Johnston in his own Pop Twist Studios, as well as new visuals for the music video produced by Matt Zane, who is currently embroiled with the family of the late Wayne Static in regards to documentaries about the band.

Johnston offers the following about his trippier industrial/trance mix of the song:

“This was the first thing Wayne Static and I ever collaborated on. He actually gave input on this version as it was being created and he loved it! Which makes this release especially important because it sparked
our future collaborations including "CRASH," my remix of "Cold," among many others.”
