On August 22, 2000, Mudvayne released their debut LP L.D. 50, which is best known for the smash single “Dig,” as well as “Death Blooms” and “Nothing to Gein.” Produced by Garth Richardson and executive produced by Shawn “Clown” Crahan and Steve Richards, the album is a frenetic piece of metal, bringing together nu metal, progressive metal, thrash, and more into over an hour of something fresh and weird in the heavy music scene. Critical reception was all over the board, though the album did land atop the Billboard Heatseekers charts, and is certified Gold by the RIAA.
To celebrate 25 years of the seminal release, Mudvayne have announced that they will go on tour this fall, with nu metal compatriots Vended and evil disco purveyors Static-X joining them. It's wild to think that Vended drummer Simon Crahan will be touring alongside the band whose first album his father produced, but here we are.
Static-X will also be celebrating 25 years since their debut album Wisconsin Death Trip.
