Another cover of an iconic track off of "A Christmas F*cking Miracle: 15 Covers and 15 Originals by The New Wave Of Nu Metal," is out now. Nashville nu metal act Thirty Nights' cover of "Closure" by Chevelle can be heard now via the Nu Metal Agenda Worldwide bandcamp.
The original "Closure" was released in September 2003 as the third single to promote Chevelle's sophomore album, "Wonder What's Next," which was released October 8, 2002 via Epic Records. Teeming with angst and emotion, "Closure" is a dynamic song that continues to build and build to where the listener can feel the boiling point finally peak with a screaming, chugging outro that is a culmination of the pent up energy that is slowly pulled out of both singer Pete Loeffler and the listener. Personally, it was a song that profoundly shaped my tastes and preferences with heavy and alternative music, as has much of Chevelle's catalog over the years.
Thirty Nights did a phenomenal job both delivering the key emotions and core of the original, while adding just enough of their own flare to differentiate itself and make the cover its own entity. The added layers of secondary guitars a bit more prominent in the mix of the first pre chorus and chorus of the track are a nice touch, and the added more modern touch of some extra chugs and percussive instrumentation is a welcome surprise and conclusion to the cover.
Thirty Nights is comprised of Jacob Sanders Chestnut, Kelly MacVeigh Cook, and William Ethan Young. The band will also have an original on the compilation, titled, "Trapped In Amber," originally off of their 2024 EP, Devil On The Beach.
As a reminder, The 30 track, two disc album was announced via the "Crazy Ass Moments In Nu Metal History," account, with preorders available now via bandcamp. The compilation consists of 15 classic Nu Metal covers and 15 original tracks from each band. DGMA's cover of "My Own Summer (Shove it)" by Deftones is available to listen to now as well as their single, "Fall Out Of My Jaw." The compilation in its entirety will be available for streaming on December 13th.
