This past Saturday, hip hop and country crossover king Jelly Roll celebrated his eighth wedding anniversary to his wife Alyssa, better known as Bunnie XO. On August 31, 2016, the two exchanged their vows in Las Vegas, and the rest, as they say, is history. In addition to being Jelly Roll’s muse and stepmother to his two children, Bunnie is also a social media superstar and podcaster, hosting her Dumb Blonde podcast since 2019.
What's this got to do with the greatest genre in rock history, do you ask? Well, in celebration of the couple’s eighth anniversary, Bunnie uploaded a TikTok with a collection of footage chronicling their courtship, from meeting as friends-of-friends all the way to the aforementioned proposal and wedding, which happened on stage at a Deftones concert. For the first time ever, this footage has been released as part of the compilation, about which Bunnie simply asks the hypothetical, “how fucking rock and roll is that?”
It should be pointed out that it was Jelly Roll’s friendship with Yelawolf, with whom Deftones were touring in 2016, that led to their on-stage proposal, in a nu metal “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” sort of moment.
No matter one’s opinion of the music, this is a love story for the ages. Congratulations to Jelly and Bunnie on eight years together, and here's to many more.
