V/H/S Halloween is the latest installment in the V/H/S series, which debuted in 2012. The latest round has loads of weird and wild horror stories, including, but not limited to:

  • diet soda made from poltergeists (oh, and it kills people sometimes),
  • a mutant woman with six boobs turning people into adult babies,
  • a demon that possesses people and makes them eat eyeballs,
  • an sentient evil candy bowl monster that sucks people into a evil candy factory that turns corpses into sweets,
  • an electronics employee that wants to help find kidnapped kids and young adults by making ids, and bad things ensue,
  • and a family-owned haunted house attraction that has a prop that makes the house become sentient and kill people.

Towards the end of the film, we get a scene that writes a line under the ectoplasm diet soda story, including a needle drop of the song "grimace_smoking_weed.jpeg" by sludge metal band Chat Pile.

While it's only on in the credits, and although V/H/S Halloween has a mostly ambient score, its a nice placement to get a new audience.

The film is streaming now on Shudder and AMC+.
