Coal Chamber's Mikey Cox Posts Statement, Band Cancels Louder Than Life Appearance

Good news and bad news coming from the band behind "Loco" this week.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Coal Chamber would be cancelling their appearance at Louder Than Life Festival this September, in light of drummer Mikey "Bug" Cox's recent cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

Today (June 12th), Cox released a statement on the band's social media pages, explaining his situation in his own words:

I wanted to share a quick update!

After months of scans, tests, and appointments, I'm beyond grateful to say that I passed all of my recent tests and finally got the green light from my doctors for what we hope will be my final cancer surgery.

Because of that, Coal Chamber will be postponing our performance at Louder Than Life. While I'm bummed to miss it, this is the news my family and I have been fighting for, and I couldn't be more excited to take this next step.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this long cancer journey. Your love, encouragement, and positive energy have meant the world to me.

My focus now is on surgery, recovery, and getting back on stage with my Coal Chamber family as soon as possible. The future is looking bright, and I can't wait to see you all again soon!

Fuck Cancer!
-Mikey "Bug" Cox

Oddly enough, Gemini Syndrome, which also currently features Meegs Rascon on guitar, dropped off the festival bill as well, with Dead Poet Society, No Resolve, and Freeze The Fall taking their spots, in an announcement made to the festival's socials on Wednesday. Gemini Syndrome have yet to address their departure from the bill at time of publication.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Mikey Cox and the Coal Chamber family for this huge milestone in his recovery, and wish him the best moving forward.
