Update: Linkin Park's timer, which we all watched countdown to zero, then start counting back up again (flickering portentiously at 00:09:05, see below), has finally stopped again at 100:00:00, full circle--but not before revealing this unsettling image with one minute to go:
According to the X.com account Linkin Park Live, this image looks like Mike Shinoda. According to me, this looks like a person being dissolved by purple acid while, like, screaming? It could be Mike Shinoda. We await confirmation of the acid death of Mike Shinoda.
In the meantime, the band also posted the statement "Be part of something. Tune in. September 5. 3 pm PT." LP Live's interpretation is that the band is planning to livestream the event. How they're going to do this without Shinoda (again, awaiting confirmation) is I guess the real mystery now.
Previous Post:
Anyone that was paying really close attention to yesterday's countdown which, to recap; went from 100 hours to zero upon which it started counting up again, may have noticed it flashing when it hit 00:09:05. Now we know what that meant as an email went out this morning announcing a Los Angeles event scheduled for September 5th. Reunion imminent? Yesterday's countdown disappointment left the idea in limbo but I guess in the end it did matter after all.
While we wait for more word, check out our tier list of potential Chester substitutes here.
UPDATE: Now why would a band that ISN'T together need active management
