Mark Tremonti on Creed's Future

“We're active songwriters. I know I'm an active songwriter,” Tremonti said. “Right now, as I'm writing an Alter Bridge record, every now and then I'll hear a song that sounds like it could be a Creed song, and I'll set that aside, so it's kind of ‘see what happens.’”

Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti said in a Sept. 9 interview on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation that he hopes the band will continue to play big shows and that new music is a real possibility.

“This is something we all hope we can just continue to do,” Tremonti said of Creed’s current tour.

When Trunk Nation host Eddie Trunk asked about the possibility of new Creed music, Tremonti said it could happen.

In August, Tremonti told Guitar Interactive he might like to revisit some of the older Creed catalog for inspiration.

“I had a whole record on my hands for Creed before we parted ways in 2012... If we start over and just dove in again, we could do better,” Tremonti said. “I think it'd be good to try to get back to that original sound.”

In an August interview with Vanyaland, Tremonti said he had “literally thousands” of riffs and ideas stockpiled for the next Creed album.

“I hoarded my ideas since I was, gosh, since I bought my first little handheld tape recorder – the little micro cassettes – saved my ideas since I was maybe in junior high school, high school,” Tremonti said. “If you want to remain a professional musician, don’t turn off the writing faucet … I’ve been lucky enough to have so many projects that I’m not allowed to turn that faucet off.”

In his appearance on Trunk Nation, Tremonti also said he continues to look for balance in the amount of attention he affords his whopping four musical projects: Creed, Alter Bridge, his self-titled band Tremonti and his Frank Sinatra charity cover group.

“I've got to keep pushing the Tremonti album as much as I can,” Tremonti said. “The biggest risk I face is the Tremonti album getting gobbled up by Creed, so that's definitely a delicate balance.”

Creed is currently on its “Summer of ‘99” North American tour.
