Atlanta mathcore genre-smashers the Callous Daoboys are already hard at work on their next record. Yesterday fans were hit with a surprise when the band's official Twitter posted "We are in the studio." Earlier today the same page quote tweeted that with a video of lead singer/keyboardist Carson Pace in the studio throwing down a heavy riff over a click track.

It's notable that Pace is the one seen playing guitar and not regular guitarists Maddie Caffrey and Daniel Hodsdon. This candid clip sheds interesting light on the band's creative process. The spastic, glitchy riff is very much in keeping with the whiplash-inducing work on the band's last album, I Don't Want to See You in Heaven–and a nice showcase of Digitech Ricochet pedal and its newly released counterpart, the Hammer-On. Pace replied to a tweet from Fox Lake, "Trying to find creative ways to use it without just smacking it on panic chords."
In addition to work on new music, the band has several upcoming shows including, Gidmas, Lovers Fest, and their own headlining tour with PSYCHO-FRAME, fromjoy, and Rev3rent. One fan, via a Genius quote from one of their songs, put it nicely: "I couldn't be more erect."
