Paleface Swiss Release Gripping Music Video For "River of Sorrows"

Switzerland’s own Paleface Swiss have released their third studio album Cursed today (January 3rd), and are marking the occasion with a haunting video for the melancholy “River of Sorrows.” The hotly-anticipated album is the band’s first with new drummer Cassiano Toma, as well as their first under this new name.

“River of Sorrows” is a metal ballad which is deftly executed, with Marc “Zelli” Zellweger’s voice capturing pain and grief in a way not usually done by most metal vocalists. He saves the harsh vocals for pivotal points in the song, building to a critical mass of emotion and pain. It makes complete sense as the closing track for Cursed, as it has a cinematic and dramatic weight that feels like something to end the night on.

The music video, directed by Kriss Jakob, is a tough watch, beautifully shot but portraying tragedy with Zelli’s character waking up to find his partner having hanged themselves. Throughout, he attempts to process the events, ultimately leading to his own self-imposed demise.

Cursed is available now via Blood Blast Distribution, a subsidiary of Nuclear Blast Records. Check out the band's Linktree for streaming, merch, and tour info.
