Spiritbox // "Soft Spine"

Between the ultra-detuned guitars and Courtney LaPlante’s banshee howling vocals, “Soft Spine” is an absolute kick to the teeth.

This year has been a banner one for Spiritbox. On the back of their first-ever Grammy nomination for their song “Jaded,” the band has played several prominent festivals, including Sick New World, Reading, and Leeds, all to much critical acclaim. Now, just days before their supporting stint alongside Gojira and the mighty Korn, Spiritbox have released a new track, the first since last December’s collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion on the rapper’s track “Cobra.”

Between the ultra-detuned guitars and Courtney LaPlante’s banshee howling vocals, “Soft Spine” is an absolute kick to the teeth. The song has a monstrous groove amidst the chaos, with a bouncing, lively chorus made for a mosh pit. Add in pick scrapes and sweep picking during the breakdown for some deathcore notes, and the band has another banger to add to their explosive catalog.

Between the aforementioned tour with Gojira and Korn and their upcoming European headlining tour beginning in February, Spiritbox show no signs of stopping, and the first salvo from their latest barrage has nailed its target.
