While some fans scratched their heads at the idea of Skylar Grey, whose previous credits include songs for Eminem, Dr. Dre, Zedd, and Rihanna, working with a band like Motionless In White, a recent clip of her solo performance of the song "R.I.P." has put a hushing finger to the mouths of those skeptics.
At an intimate private event, Grey sang the song solo, accompanied only by a piano. Her powerful voice helps to cement the emotional weight of the track, casting a spell on the listener. This marked the first time the song had been performed live, beating out the band's rendition, which will no doubt feature in their setlist for the upcoming Sweat And Blood Tour.
If anything, it gives further credence to the need for a Motion Picture Collection version of the song, though it has since received a vocals-only treatment.
