Spineshank Will Soon Release First Single Since 2012

Their last album was 'Anger Denial Acceptance.'

Spineshank singer Jonny Santos revealed on Talk Toomey that the band has recorded a new single for the first time since their fourth album Anger Denial Acceptance in 2012.

Spineshank recently surged back into the limelight after more than a decade to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their raging industrial masterpiece second album The Height of Callousness. Tour dates across the U.S., the U.K., and Ireland may have gotten fans excited, but now they may have a new album to anticipate in the near future, Santos said.

“Right now, I’m in the studio finishing up some edits and mixing the first Spineshank song since 2012,” Santos said. “If it's accepted well, if people are excited about it, if it does well, then maybe there could be another album in the works or, if anything, maybe an EP.”

Santos spoke about the revived popularity of nu metal and how that has created new hope for the band to receive the “warrior’s death” it never received the first time around.

“We mourned the death of Spineshank in a weird way because we thought nobody cared about us anymore,” Santos said. “We never quit, that was the one thing. The band never broke up, I never quit Spineshank, neither did Tommy [Decker] or Rob [Garcia]. We've always still [maintained] that we're members of the band; I guess maybe part of us was hoping that something like this would happen again someday and it has.”

The band will hit the road in July, so Santos predicted they will try to get the song out in May or June.

“We're hoping to have the song completely mixed, mastered and ready to go in the next two weeks, so that I can say,” Santos said. “If I was a betting man … I think I could see this song coming out sometime late May, early June.”

Santos added he does not want to say any time specifically because it may change on a whim.

“There’s this thing called the ‘Spineshank curse,’” Santos said. “And trust me, it's still around.”

Spineshank will be joined by The Union Underground, Adema and Sicksense for the majority of their U.S. tour and by Drowning Pool and (hed) P.E. when they go across the pond.
