Bristol nu-gazers Split Chain have finally unveiled the details for motionblur [DELUXE], the expanded and reimagined deluxe edition of their debut album, 2025's motionblur. While this new edition was first announced back in May, the band was cagey on the details; at the time, Roman Candle and False Reality were the only confirmed guests. Earlier today, the band announced the full slate includes Day Aches, Concealer, Slow Degrade, whither, Commoner, Ritualpostdrome, Nodding Off, Zetra, and Grove Street. The album releases September 11th on Epitaph Records.

The band included the following statement:

We get that everyone interprets music in their own way, and so we invited a bunch of mates to feature across the album, so that we could hear their individual interpretations of the songs. It came out so much better than we could have even hoped, and we truly believe the work and energy that every person has done on every song is incredible. The cast of names on this version on this album is sick, and we know people are gonna love it just as much as we do. We’re so incredibly grateful to every single artist that has helped the deluxe become a reality and we genuinely can’t wait to hear what everybody thinks.

In contrast to "Scatterbrain" and the preceding single "sylvia (i won’t belong to you)," these new versions of "Headway" and "SPIT" are fans' first opportunity to hear motionblur tracks reworked/reimagined. The band had this to say about working with vocalists Piper Ferrari (Roman Candle) and Rachel Rigby (False Reality):

Asking both Piper and Rachel to feature on these songs was an absolute no brainer for us. We're all such big fans of what they do in their own bands and we were so excited to see how they would interpret these songs. Not only that, but being able to have features from bands in both the US and UK scenes is so sick.

They both have such distinctive, dynamic and incredible voices and hearing how their own natural flair sits so well in these songs is legitimately insane.

They've genuinely done the songs an incredible amount of justice, and their unique takes on each have really elevated the songs to a point where they now sit comfortably as their definitive versions. We couldn't be happier with how the songs have turned out, and we're so excited to be able to tour with them in September.
