French nu-deathcore group ten56. was formed from the remnants of Betraying the Martyrs back in 2020, and their modus operandi is punishing riffs and unflinching lyricism. They exploded onto the scene with “Diazepam” and the subsequent pair of Downer EPs, but now the group is back for more, releasing their second single of the year after last month’s “Earwig.”
“Pig” is an aural dissection of a track, with vocalist Aaron Matts laying into his subject with vicious lines such as “I pray to God there’s not a single mirror in your house / I’d hate for you to wake up in the morning just to see / the same piece of shit that made this family.” The breakdown hits like a sledgehammer, but there is still a swagger and bounce to the track and Matts’ vocal delivery that keeps things very nice, very nu.
While there has not been a new album announced by the band or their label Out of Line Music, they are about to embark on two different tours this year. One will see them play a selection of dates in their native France, while the other will see them all over Europe this fall. Those dates are as follows:
