No matter where one's music tastes lie, it's a safe assumption that everyone and their sister has heard Chappell Roan's ode to the stage, "Pink Pony Club." Since the song's release in 2020, the pop anthem has put the Midwest Princess on the map, leading to artists of all genres to put their spin on it. In the case of The Stepmoms, though, they decided to go completely off the rails in their cover of it, and the accompanying music video is proof of such.
While the original is a nod to drag and features several drag performers in its music video, The Stepmoms recorded a live performance for the music video, with all of the members dressed as Limp Bizkit. This is still drag, after all, even if it's a bunch of dudes dressing as other dudes, and being this tongue-in-cheek about it is a fun touch. They're just having fun, on the stage in their caps, and that's where they belong.
Plus hearing synths and saxophones woven into the pop-punk stylings of this version is a nice touch, adding to the overall product that makes it not only fun in a "what the fuck is actually happening here?" sense, but a "this is genuinely just a fun time" sense as well.
