Third time's the charm.
After a little over a decade, Tomahawk are set to return this summer for a tour they have dubbed "An Official Waste of Your Time And Money." The supergroup, who will be accompanied by Melvins, have not toured since 2013.
"In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again – also competing will be our cohorts the Melvins," said founding member Duane Denison in a press release.
An official post with tour dates was made on both Tomahawk's and Ipecac Record's Instagram on Monday, following an accidental leak on Ticketmaster.
"This tour is a no brainer. I can’t wait," Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne said. "A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove."
Tomahawk formed in 1999 after Mike Patton and Duane Denison met and decided to collaborate. Their first album was released in the fall of 2001 under Ipecac, Patton's own record label.
Their most recent tour was for their 2013 album The Oddfellows. They had planned to tour again in 2021 for Tonic Immobility but restrictions due to the pandemic made it impossible.
They tried again in October of 2024, revealing they were part of the lineup for Sick New World. Of course, that didn't work out either, with Trevor Dunn being one of the first to announce it publicly.
The upcoming tour will be their third attempt in the past five years. Many fingers are crossed and plenty of wood has been knocked on to ensure nothing happens between now and this summer in Nashville, TN, where they're set to perform in July.
