Magnolia Park // "The Void"

From a quiet verse/loud chorus structure to the electronics throughout, the Orlando natives have a sing-along banger on their hands here. Add in a metalcore-style breakdown and this ode to the struggles of depression and paranoia is a winner.

Magnolia Park may have kicked off their careers with a pop-punk sound, revisiting what brought them to the dance with their cover of “I2I” from A Goofy Movie, but they have evolved so much in such a short time. On their most recent release, last year’s Halloween Mixtape II, the band began playing around with nu metal and arena rock stylings, particularly on the anthemic “Animals.”

The band’s most recent single, “The Void,” is very much in that same vein. From a quiet verse/loud chorus structure to the electronics throughout, the Orlando natives have a sing-along banger on their hands here. Add in a metalcore-style breakdown and this ode to the struggles of depression and paranoia is a winner.

Magnolia Park is set to play Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22nd, after which they’ll be making the trip to the UK for a run of dates in February 2025. With the months-long break between shows, could we be on the verge of the group’s fourth studio album? Time will tell, but if “The Void” is any indication, it will be one to listen to.
