Former Ill Nino Vocalist Delivers Country Metal Track "Stay" With New Band Swim The Current

"I wanted something to mirror exactly what we are, a little bit of country and a little bit of metal."

Marcos Leal, until recently the vocalist for nu metal veterans Ill Niño, recently announced his departure from the band to focus on his other projects Shattered Sun and country rock band Swim The Current.  Swim The Current's lineup currently consists of Leal, bassist George Pond (Disciples Of Verity), guitarist Greg Antine, drummer Chris Moore (George Lynch, Ultraphonix, Rock Of Ages), and lead guitarist Joe Gareri.  This week, Swim The Current released a new single “Stay.” Leal expressed his excitement about the new track (via prp), saying:

“I’m freakin excited to bring you Swim The Current‘s latest track off our upcoming album, ‘Stay.’ It will be our first step into the Country Rock Music Scene, and I couldn’t be happier taking this next step in my career with TLG ZOID/Virgin Music Group in our corner! When I first came up with the concept of the ‘Stay‘ music video with Tom Flynn, I wanted something to mirror exactly what we are, a little bit of country and a little bit of metal. I’m incredibly thankful to be working with Tom who I’ve always considered the best in the business at his craft. I’m very thankful for him, TLG/ZOID and Revolver for helping me bring this vision to light. When I wrote ‘Stay‘ with George and Sahaj Ticotin, we were talking about the crazy punch-drunk love we have all experienced throughout our lives. Sometimes the love you have for that person of your dreams will make you do some crazy things. Sometimes no choice is your choice, and the weight of moving on is too much to carry. In the end, letting go was the choice you should have made, but instead, you stayed.”
