Popularized by her TikTok viral song "ABCDEFU," singer GAYLE has earned a spot on Barbie The Album; the movie's official soundtrack. Titled "butterflies," she samples the eponymously named Crazy Town track, bringing a current pop-rock twist to the 20-year-old classic. While the track interpolates the instrumentation of Crazy Town's "Butterfly," GAYLE also rehashes lyrics from the original and adds her own throughout the verses.
Barbie The Album also features "Angel" by PinkPantheress, who previously sampled Linkin Park's "Forgotten" on her dreamy track "Last Valentines."
GAYLE's interpolation adds to the growing list of contemporary pop music sampling or being inspired by nu metal.
