(hed)p.e. are ready to continue the story started with Detox. The g-punk band have announced that their next studio album will be titled Relapse, following their 2023 release.
The announcement came from vocalist Jared Gomes, who confirmed that work on the record has been completed and described the album as a deeply personal experience, comparing the creative process to therapy and a way of escaping some of life’s more difficult moments.
“Relapse is done,” Gomes wrote. “The new record is titled Relapse.” The vocalist explained that the album explores themes of personal struggles, relationships, chemicals, and the emotional experiences that have shaped his journey, adding that there were “tears of pain and tears of joy” throughout the creation of the record.
With Relapse, (hed)p.e. will deliver their 15th studio album, continuing a career that began with their self-titled 1997 debut and established them as one of nu metal and rapcore’s longest-running acts. The band reached wider recognition during the genre’s early 2000s peak with albums such as Broke (2000) and Blackout (2003), while continuing to release new music consistently throughout the following decades.
The announcement also sparked discussion among fans after some listeners questioned the image used to introduce the project, suggesting it may have been created with artificial intelligence. When one fan commented, “I doubt making a cover is that expensive man, why the AI?”, the official (hed)p.e. account responded directly: “it’s a picture no one said cover cry somewhere else.”
The conversation arrives as the use of artificial intelligence in creative work continues to become a growing topic within heavy music. In recent months, other bands across the scene have also addressed accusations or questions surrounding potential AI involvement in artwork or creative processes, highlighting an ongoing debate between artists and fans about authenticity and technology.
