The Callous Daoboys have released their Audiotree Live Session, recorded back in March while passing through Chicago on tour. The band--comprising of vocalist Carson Pace, guitarists Dan Hodsdon & Maddie Caffrey, violinist Amber Christman, drummer Matthew Hague, and bassist Jackie Buckalew--give a performance as chaotic, energetic, and musically proficient as their noteworthy live performances when on tour. The dynamic delivery and off-kilter transitions of the Daoboys' genre-mashing tracks “Star Baby", "Violent Astrology", "Pushing The Pink Envelope", "Waco Jesus", and "Blackberry DeLorean” showcase their inspirations from mathcore, post-hardcore, and progressive metal, while the interview portion shows off the light-hearted nature of the band, including some japes about higher education, Pace describing filming a music video during his brother's graduation party, and Hodsdon's recollections of touring Finland in a brutal February winter.
For returning fans, this session was a testament to why they fell in love with the band in the first place. For newcomers, it should undoubtedly be an eye-opening introduction to one of the most exciting and innovative acts in the modern heavy and alternative scenes. As the Callous Daoboys continue to push boundaries and challenge expectations, this Audiotree performance is a great summation of a group that has honed their unique craft to perfection.
The Callous Daoboys will be heading on a US and Canadian tour with SeeYouSpaceCowboy along with Omerta and Stateside. Find tour dates here.
