Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Poppy has just announced her seventh album, Empty Hands, along with the release of the new single, "Bruised Sky." Per the press release, the new album "draws from eclectic influences, with industrial elements, pop sensibilities, and moments that call back to Poppy's surrealist roots with her signature uncanny, machine-like voice." The album comes out January 26th on Sumerian Records.
Shifting away from the introspection of the previous single, "Unravel," the new single, co-written and produced by Jordan Fish, finds Poppy turning her steely gaze toward the heavens and welcoming retribution in the wake of a crumbling relationship. "And the moon is awake tonight / I'm collecting the names under the bruised sky" she promises before hitting the chorus. Just as advertised, the lyrics are rife with surreal images that push the drama to the breaking point. Check out the suitably apocalyptic music video directed by Orie McGinness below.
News of the album arrives mere hours after Poppy concluded the South American leg of the From Zero Tour with Linkin Park. Other recent Poppy activity includes a team-up BABYMETAL, a hit single with Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante in, "End Of You," and a cover of Wham!'s holiday classic "Last Christmas." Coinciding with the album's release in January, Poppy will kick off her Constantly Nowhere European/UK and Australian tour with special guests Ocean Grove, Inertia, and Fox Lake. Tickets are available now.

Her album Negative Spaces is out now on Sumerian Records. You can read the Nu Metal Agenda's review of the record here.
