Riikira is a producer from the UK who’s been making music since 2011, utilizing a range of styles across the electronic spectrum. From gabber to downtempo, from drum n bass to dubstep. With their explorations into the electronic realm being so varied, the common thread is its source of inspiration laid within the Brony fandom, coinciding with the original run of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic from 2010 to 2019.
World Gone is their first soiree into metal. And wouldn’t you know it? It’s nu metal!
This LP is much like Riikira’s musical back catalog: varied, colorful, and expressive with just the right amount of aggression. Musical genres like nu metal, digital hardcore, metalcore, electronic rock and alternative metal are sewn together into a pleasing nu tapestry that’s crafted to strike up memories of Celldweller and his 2003 self-titled debut.
Nu metal’s status has shifted throughout much of its history, from meatheaded macho music to the soundtrack of the social outcast. And thus, it has spread into many niche communities and fandoms. For those who identify as bronies, furries, or even those just into eclectic music from niche communities, Riikira is a fantastic place to start.
