SLAM BAND (Featuring FILTH) Are Back To Serve Up Some "FISHDICKS" On New Single

SLAM BAND, the "most serious unserious band on the planet," are back with a new single, apparently, about fish sticks. The track, titled "FISHDICKS"—clearly a reference to the South Park "gay fish" joke about fish sticks/dicks—is the latest single from the slam metal offshoot of North Carolina downtempo deathcore band FILTH. This is the third single from the project after "Dookie" and the King of the Hill-inspired "Boobie Hill." And yet, little is known about the band, which conspicuously includes all four members of FILTH.

True to the group's mission statement—"We Slam, Fart, and Barf"—this new track, which samples Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks, includes prominently placed flatulence courtesy of singer Dustin Jamaal Mitchell at the 1:07 mark. We've graduated cough breakdowns to fart breakdowns. Great job, everybody.

As for the song's subject matter, it does appear to literally be about fish sticks. The music video and the band's Facebook page ("Yes we wrote a song about fish sticks!") seem to corroborate this fact. Sadly, just like the previous singles, no official lyrics have been provided. And the admittedly graphic artwork for the single (included below) is no help either. But, in a way, there's something beautiful about leaving not just the meaning but the actual wording of the lyrics up to the listener. Worked for early R.E.M.

Tomorrow, July 11th, SLAM BAND will be performing at The Rooster in Gastonia, North Carolina, as part of Summer Stomp III: Emergency Room Edition. On July 19th, FILTH will take part in INKcarceration before heading down to Australia for a run of shows with special guests Kanine, LIAR, and iocaste. Throughout August, European fans can see the band performing with support from Thy Art Is Murder, Chelsea Grin, XOXO, and Kanine. Finally, in September, FILTH will join Gutter King and Feels Like Home as special guests on Opal In Sky's Beavers & Bears Cross Canada Tour. Tickets are on sale now.
