Seemingly making good on his promise—or threat, depending on whom you ask—to return to rap, MGK, aka Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker), previewed an unreleased track featuring Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst during the pre-show at Sunday's concert in Bologna, Italy.
Titled "Track 14" in reference to the thirteen tracks on MGK's latest album Lost Americana, the song showcases the Cleveland rapper-turned-pop-punker flowing like his old self with lines like "I'm from Cleveland that's the old state / Pretty the way you are but I like it when you make the O-face" before letting drop some OG nu metal riffage and the unmistakable voice of one William Frederick Durst.
Fans were quick to note MGK's use of the pre-show to give audiences a preview of new music. Most recently, MGK played "Times of My Life" leading up to the track's official release in January. The preview of a second rap-focused track has fans all but assured MGK's new album will be a full-on rap album. Following his beef with Eminem, MGK's rapping has largely taken a backseat. Not the first time a third-tier Eminem diss track has had that effect on a rapper.
But perhaps we haven't seen the last of self-proclaimed "Rap Devil." MGK's chart-topping success has likely freed the former Mr. Megan Fox to return to the genre that first made his name. Meanwhile, Fred Durst and co. are gearing up for the summer festival season. The band, now featuring Ecca Vandal's Richie Buxton (aka Kid Not) on bass following tragic passing of Sam Rivers, will hit up Rock am Ring, Download Fest, INKcarceration and more.
