Scene Queen Calls Out Warped Tour Over Excluding "18+" From Their Annual Compilation

Allegedly it was to "avoid controversy," which isn't very punk, all told.

Scene Queen stirred the pot in a big way with her song "18+," calling out unnamed but sadly innumerable artists who have used their status and their influence to take advantage of underage fans. While some fans have tried to fill in the blanks (or in this case, bleeps) about which band is referenced in the pre-breakdown callout, there's never been anything definitive declared on the matter, in a modern metalcore twist on that line from "You're So Vain."

At her first of three appearances at this year's revived Warped Tour, Scene Queen called out the festival for its hypocrisy, alleging that the organizers left her song "18+" off of the annual compilation CD due to its controversial nature, wanting not to get involved in any crossfire that may come from its inclusion. Before launching into the song, she shot on the snub, affirming that a cornerstone of the music community like Warped Tour should be able to stand with such ideas as protecting women, particularly young girls, in an act of using the platform she's amassed for good.
